It seems to me, that unless and until all sectors of the community come to a common table, to place the socio-economic impact of gun violence on the well being of Philadelphia and our residents, squarely on the table as our shared threat, we will never develop or implement any real or sustainable solutions.

Philadelphia's strengths and weaknesses are often the same. Philadelphia is a city of neighborhoods, that is what is both right and wrong, enabling and disabling about solving communal city/county/regional problems.

Gun violence is a threat to all of us, whether we live, work or visit here. It is a critical variable of our socio-economic status as a city and its future potential in a global economy. No corporate, academic, small or large for profit or not for profit entity is immune from the shattering effects of gun violence, even if people think it affects only certain people in other neighborhoods. No one, no thing in Philadelphia is immune from gun violence. Its effect is beyond city or even region, it is universal.
